Be a Friend of the SkyCenter
Mission of the Friends
To provide Mt. Lemmon SkyCenter (SkyCenter) with financial support from individuals and public and private foundations in order to advance the mission of SkyCenter—to provide unique educational experiences in our sky island setting to all ages.
Why do we need the Friends of SkyCenter?
Science literacy is critical to the future of this nation and the world. Education in schools alone is not engaging and training students for the 21st century world. Informal science education— especially science centers and museums— complements school learning and inspires both children and adults to learn more to create new scientific break-throughs and solutions for our world.
Educational facilities raise money to provide activities and programs for people. While some of our money comes from ticket sales to our programs, and some comes from governmental and private foundation grants, we need to raise approximately one-third from memberships and donations.
Specific areas of need include camp scholarships, equipment, programmatic operational support and capital investments and a named fellowship/scholarship with its goal to emphasize science education.
